Magazines are highly visual. Each spread features text and visual elements carefully arranged in a heierarchy, designed to catch you eye and guide you around the pages. The thick coloured line you see on each page here was the basis for this.
The line snakes around the copy, emphasises the headline, separates boxed copy away from the body text in a more interesting way than the more usual pedestrian manner of using a literal box.
The bright colours are taken from the imagery on the page (or, sometimes when a graphic is used, vice versa). Some pictures are taken from the original publication but it is always important to give Soapbox its own identity and there is no content that cannot be changed for the good of the magazine.
